Missy Anderson

Missy Anderson was born and raised in Sacramento, California, and relocated to WA in 2010. A former college athlete and high school basketball coach, Missy now fuels her competitive spirit laughing on the golf course with friends and family as often as she can.

Missy is service driven and strives to have a positive impact on those around her. The defining moment of her professional career was accepting the challenge of reviving the Veterans Program for Sacramento City College. As a civilian stepping into this role, she found unwavering passion in serving those who serve.

Missy comes to OMF with 30 years of case management and benefits management experience at the local, state, and federal level, specializing in GI Bill Certification and Compliance at community colleges in California and Washington state. Nominated by her peers, Missy accepted the role of President of the Veteran & Military Services Council of WA (VMSC) in 2020. She served for 3 years providing advocacy and direct support to School Certifying Officials, college faculty, staff, and administrators across 32-community college member institutions.

During the last 10 years with Shoreline Community College, she was instrumental in reshaping and redefining the Veteran & Military Student Services program and Veterans Resource Center. Her vision was to provide a dedicated, safe, and inclusive space for veterans and military connected students – focused on comprehensive transition services, camaraderie, and community building.

At Shoreline, Missy was the co-creator and facilitator of GOT YOUR 6 – an initiative focused on educating the campus community on the challenges veterans face when transitioning from military to civilian life. This initiative created a sense of belonging, community, and allyship, leading to an increase in veteran persistence, completion and success. Additional college services included serving as Veterans Advisory Committee chair, VETS Club advisor, as well as a collaborating partner with Accessibility Services, Counseling Services, Multicultural Center, Gender Equity Center, the United Way Food Pantry, and the Commencement Committee.

Missy was a member of the National Association of Veterans Program Administrators (NAVPA) and Washington Association of Veteran Education Specialists (WAVES), as well as an honorary member of The Rotary of Lake Forest Park.

Missy is thrilled to be working with OMF and for the opportunity to provide compassionate, impactful support to veterans, service members and their families as they navigate the challenges of transition and learn how to discover their post service identity.
